Introduction

Economic Geology 101 is a course for beginners in exploration geology, people requiring a basic understanding of ore deposits, students, and anyone who is inquisitive about mineral deposits and how these form. The course provides an overview of the three major rock types (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks), and introduces the geologic processes that form or influence ore deposits. In this course, you will learn about ore deposits that are typical for various metals, including abundant metals (iron, manganese, titanium) as well as scarce base (nickel, copper, lead, zinc) and precious (platinum group elements, gold and silver) metals. World-renowned deposits are described and illustrated with numerous figures and photographs.

This course is based on the Geological Framework for the Business of Exploration and Mining, authored by David Groves, produced by Market Motion Media.

Course Content

Economic Geology 101 is structured in two parts and a total of 9 viewing sessions of approximately 60 minutes each, plus course reviews. Current course duration is equivalent to approximately 9 hours of viewing content.
