By understanding the logic behind its requirements, it would be easier for practitioners to implement and meet the requirements and intent of the Code. Practitioners will also understand how and why the Code was created, what does it take to certify a mining operation under the Cyanide Code, the roles of the various areas at the mine and how to prepare for an audit.

About the Author

Tito Campos is global expert in environmental and sustainability matters, with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry in gold and copper operations and projects in Peru, Ecuador, Indonesia and United States. Has extensive operational experience in mining and is a Certified Environmental Auditor by the USA National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP). He is registered as lead and technical expert auditor for gold mining operations under the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI). He has conducted more than 45 Cyanide Code audits to mining companies across the Americas, including leading mining companies such as Newmont, Barrick, Kinross, Anglo Gold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Agnico Eagle, Calibre, Torex, Couer, Aura Minerals, Minas Argentinas, Nevada Gold Mines, Equinox Gold, Penmont, among others.
